Virgin and Child with Angels - Folio 7v

One of the earliest surviving images of Mary and the Christ Child in Western art. The Virgin sits enthroned with the Child on her lap, flanked by four angels figures. It symbolizes the mystery of the Incarnation through Ireland’s unique artistic vision.  It is the only image of Mary in the Book of Kells.
