The Voyage of St. Brendan

St. Brendan the Navigator was a 6th-century Irish monk whose legendary sea voyages became one of the great stories of Celtic Christianity. According to tradition, Brendan and his companions sailed westward across the Atlantic in a small currach, searching for the fabled “Promised Land of the Saints.”

Their journey carried them through storm seas, mysterious islands, and encounters that blurred the boundary between history and myth.

Hand-painted in enamel on traditional Palestinian hand-blown glass from Bethlehem, this ornament unites Celtic illumination with Middle Eastern glassmaking traditions.
