St. Elizabeth of Portugal

Renowned for her charity and gift for peacemaking, Saint Elizabeth of Portugal (1271–1336) dedicated her life to caring for the poor and reconciling those in conflict. Tradition tells that bread hidden beneath her cloak was miraculously transformed into roses — a lasting symbol of compassion made visible.

The rose on the reverse recalls this miracle and signifies love transformed into beauty through acts of mercy and kindness.
