St. Elizabeth of Portugal

A tireless servant of the poor, St. Elizabeth (1271 - 1336) was renowned for her charity, humility, and gift for peacemaking. According to tradition, the bread she carried to the hungry was miraculously transformed into roses — a lasting symbol of divine grace and compassion.

The single rose on the reverse recalls this miracle and signifies mercy revealed, charity made visible, and love transformed into beauty.
